Wednesday, October 13

WHEW! We're through the first week of MEAP testing. The kids did wonderfully well, but they look a bit fatigued. We'll get back to a normal Thursday tomorrow.

Homework tonight:

1. A bit of something different.
Read your 20 minutes, but test yourself. I want a signed note in your homework planner where you record how many WORDS YOU'RE READING PER MINUTE. Here's how I want you to do it:

Read for 5 minutes. (I would suggest setting a timer, either from the stove, or if you have your own fine, or have Mom or Dad keep track for you, you need to focus on the reading, not the timing)

Count the number of words you were able to get through in that 5 minute period. (This may not be perfectly totaled, but try to get close.

Then of course you will divide that total by 5 (you certainly should use a calculator, remember the number of words gets punched in first, then divide by 5)

Record your result in your homework planner, have Mom or Dad sign it, then return it tomorrow.

Make sure you then finish the rest of your 20 minutes.

That's all folks,

Mr. K

Greetings one and all,

We have a few people out with colds and flus today, so make sure you're washing your hands and keeping yourselves healthy. Also, don't forget that this is the place to check when you're sick. All homework is listed here:

1. Math: pages 39 and 40 (due Tuesday)
*Mini Quiz Thursday
*3 extra problems found in the hard cover book on page 68 if you're looking for a challenge.

2. We are actively working on our final drafts of our 1st personal narratives
*These will be due on Friday
*I don't see too much that will need to be done at home here, most of the kids have their pieces on the computer here at school, but they can print out a copy and bring it home to be shared with you. You'll also see this at conferences.

3. Read 20 minutes

4. Science: Parent Note coming home tonight

That's all folks.
