WHEW! We're through the first week of MEAP testing. The kids did wonderfully well, but they look a bit fatigued. We'll get back to a normal Thursday tomorrow.

Homework tonight:

1. A bit of something different.
Read your 20 minutes, but test yourself. I want a signed note in your homework planner where you record how many WORDS YOU'RE READING PER MINUTE. Here's how I want you to do it:

Read for 5 minutes. (I would suggest setting a timer, either from the stove, or if you have your own fine, or have Mom or Dad keep track for you, you need to focus on the reading, not the timing)

Count the number of words you were able to get through in that 5 minute period. (This may not be perfectly totaled, but try to get close.

Then of course you will divide that total by 5 (you certainly should use a calculator, remember the number of words gets punched in first, then divide by 5)

Record your result in your homework planner, have Mom or Dad sign it, then return it tomorrow.

Make sure you then finish the rest of your 20 minutes.

That's all folks,

Mr. K
